Intel believes that filling the tech industry pipeline with diverse students is critical to fostering the future innovators who will create the technology industries’ next products. Through a multi-pronged approach of transformative education initiatives, financial assistance, and internship opportunities, Intel is paving the way for Latino/as to enter and succeed in tech careers.

For example, through the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley’s Latinos in Technology Scholarship Initiative, Intel pledged $3.75 million over five years to support a total of 125 scholarships for Latino college students who have chosen a science, technology, engineering, or math major. In addition, Intel will offer each scholarship student an internship for two summers and a full-time job upon successful completion of their degree.

In February, Intel announced a $1.3 million investment over the course of three years to support CODE2040, a nonprofit organization that creates pathways to success in technology for underrepresented minorities, with a specific focus on Blacks and Latino/as. Intel will support CODE2040’s flagship Fellows Program, as well as the Technical Application Prep (TAP) Program, which aims to bridge the gap between education and employment with mentoring, resume prep, and internship guidance.

Intel expects to announce several additional pipeline and university partnerships in 2016, while continuing to execute and scale the programs we announced in 2015. We hope pipeline programs like these can be models for other technology companies. We invite them to join us, because we believe that together our impact can be profound.
