In 2016, the PGA of America launched PGA LEAD, an emerging leaders program designed to identify,mentor, and progress PGA Professionals from diverse backgrounds, who aspire to leadership roles at the Chapter,Section, and National levels of the association. In total,15 PGA Professionals comprised the inaugural PGA LEADclass of 2016-2017.This year brings a new class of 15 PGA Professionals who were selected including Joshua Salmon. A Sun CountryPGA Section member, Salmon is the assistant director of the PGA Professional Golf Management Program at NewMexico State University. Previously, he was the assistantPGA Golf Professional at Sonoma Ranch Golf Course in LasCruces, N.M. Salmon received his undergraduate degree from New Mexico State University College of Business,where he is now an MBA candidate.“Everyone should have the opportunity to seek out and do the things they love, regardless of their financial background, race, and gender,” said Salmon, “if we as mentors and leaders can create a culture that fosters these basic principles, we can truly make a difference in people’s lives.”
